Now that we are well into the second half of the school year, we wanted to bring to your attention a change in criteria for our Honor’s Night that is held at the end of each academic year.  For those who are not familiar with this program, it is an evening set aside where students are invited to attend and are given formal recognition for their academic efforts for their year(s) in middle school.  Honor’s Night is an evening of academic excellence.

Please note that our new criteria for Honor’s Night will consist only of using the GPA system.  This will mirror the criteria at the high schools and will be consistent with the points per academic grade.  We hope that by making this change we will be able to eliminate the challenges of how letter grades factor into the decision making process.  Furthermore, in an effort to invite a similar percentage of students as we have in past years, the grade point will be set at 3.75.  This will capture well over 250 students at each of our three middle schools.  Also, we will honor students that maintain all A’s or a 4.0 or greater for the combined two years as we have int he past.

Thank you for your continued support of our schools.

Doug Lowery, Principal
